Sognando dai film alla musica. Due mix di Paul Clipson

Paul Clipson è un filmmaker di San Francisco. Le opere più rinomate di quest’artista sono dei super 8 ad alto tasso di lirismo e di sperimentazione, ma il suo lavoro spazia dai film alle installazioni, dalla performance art alla pittura. Se ne può scoprire qualcosa  nei video di Vimeo. Clipson è un appassionato dell’accoppiata suono/immagine. Da dieci anni collabora con diversi musicisti (tra gli altri: Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, Joshua Churchill, Tarentel, Metal Rouge e Barn Owl), creando filmati che fungono da controparti visuali per concerti e incisioni. Tutto il suo stile è ispirato dai musicisti.

Ovviamente, Clipson è anche un appassionato di colonne sonore classiche. Per Mubi, il social network dei cinefili, ha curato due suggestivi mix di musiche per film. Si tratta di «un insieme di pezzi ipnotici, messi insieme con attenzione per concentrarsi sul carattere più intimo della musica da film: la sua abilità di distillare momenti allucinatori, le qualità più sensuali ed emozionali della natura di un film, e amplificare queste sensazioni per aumentarne l’impatto temporale».
